Wow, time sure is flying by! The album is coming along really well and I am so excited about it! Let’s get down to business, the release date has been pushed back until May 1st 2014. There are a few reasons for this:
1. I want to make this the BEST project it can be. I don’t want to hurry to get things done just because the tentative release date was approaching. I want to take time to make certain nothing is rushed or sloppy. In other words, I’m being very picky and protective over this album 🙂
2. May 1st I will actually be the featured poet at Urban Grind for Open Mic Night hosted by Nfared. I am taking that opportunity to launch my album since I’ll already be onstage for a set. What better time to share my work with the world?
3. I want to create the best ebooklet that goes with the album that I possibly can, complete with videos, photos and of course text of the poems featured on the album. Maybe even some bonus materials if time permits. I need the extra time to create said content and to be sure it all works across all available platforms so that it will be easy for YOU (yes you) to access.
4. I really just don’t have time this month to release it. I thought I was super woman but sadly I am not. March is busy because I’ll be competing in the Women Of the World Poetry Slam (WOWPS) which will be in Austin, Texas March 19-22nd. As soon as I return from Austin I’ll be moving so I will have my hands full with packing and then unpacking. Preparing for that has taken some of my focus from the album so I want to come back and devote April to getting the finishing touches taken care of.
Thank you so much for supporting me with this project, I am so happy to finally release my work in this manner. May 1st will be epic! Thank you!
Thanks for your interest and support in my upcoming album “In the making”! I’m very excited about this debut project and am working diligently to make it a great experience for you. Recording wrapped at the end of January at P3 Productions with Peter Z. I’m currently doing all the “fun” post production things that you don’t think about when you first decide to produce and sell an album. It’s a lot of work and this is my first huge project so I am especially picky about every detail. The release is scheduled for March of 2014. I’ll also have pre-orders and promotions going on closer to March so definitely keep an eye out! Again, thank you for your support!
If you’d like to financially back this project and be a huge part of its creation you can do so by donating whatever you can. Every little bit counts!
About the project!
I wanted to take a moment to share a bit of information about my upcoming poetry book and album project: In the making. This book has been a work in progress for a few years now, it’s something I’ve always wanted to do but never managed to gather the courage to tackle until recently. It is a collection of poems written over the past five years spanning the topics of love, loss, life and more. I’m very pleased with the work that I have done, and with the ways my writing has grown over time. Both projects are being made independently and I’m extremely proud of the way they are turning out!
Currently, I am in the process of recording my album at P3 Productions with the talented Peter Z. The album will consist of 11-12 tracks and will include some of my most popular spoken word pieces like “America” and “Loneliness is a junkie” and “The prostitute poem”. The album will be released before the book and I will have digital and physical copies available! Check back later for the date!
The book is done. However, I’m meticulously reading, re-reading and then reading again to ensure grammar and spelling are up to par. I am also in the process of arranging the poems in the perfect order for your reading enjoyment. Until I feel as though this work is the best it can be the book will remain in the making (bad pun intended).
2014 promises to be a year full of creative release and I am so happy that I can share that with you. To everyone who has supported this endeavor I can only say thank you. You’ve been an inspiration just by believing in me! If you’d like to contribute to the making of the project you can donate via paypal by clicking the button at the side of the page! Thank you!
